The strangeness will wear off
Jackson Pollock
You passed out, you don’t understand.
Those years were stolen from me.
I think I made friends with the slobs of Hollywood and perished up there.
I travel light, but this is too light.
I was conscious, like a child bride.
I lived in their villas, ricocheted through the halls of fame,
radiating love, going for the jugular.
Wound up further away than anyone.
I was down in Hell discussing redemption.
All my dreams came true so fast.
Long primrose nights are coming back to haunt me,
nearly the only pleasure left.
I’m sorry if I added darkness,
but I couldn’t just show up empty-handed.
Time to cut and run, sort of a polka.
Even the rain is black. Is everybody helpless here?
Keep your eyes on the road, that’s a kind of kissing.
We’re bound for nowhere, it’s a beautiful place –
somewhere between serenity and vertigo.
I’m grown up. Please allow me to show you.
It’s peaceful here. Any comment?
I know that’s my life flashing up there on the screen.
I travel light, but this is too light.
Enough of the games. Tell me what I already know.
