Subscribe to Giramondo’s books program and become a patron of independent literary publishing. 

Over the past two decades Giramondo has established a reputation as one of Australia’s most adventurous and prestigious independent literary publishers. Giramondo is known for the quality and design of its books, across fiction, non-fiction and poetry – for championing innovative literary forms, supporting new voices, and publishing some of the best writing from Australia and around the world.

Reader subscriptions allow our company to help writers develop their best work, pay for the work of our editorial and design staff, and make bold editorial choices in our publishing program. 

In return, subscribers will receive first editions of new titles – books that will be seen as classics in years to come. Subscribers will also have new titles delivered to them by mail as soon as we receive them from the printer. View our forthcoming titles here.

There are three subscription plans available: 

  • All books: Receive all our new titles for $360 over 12 months
  • Prose: Receive all our new prose titles (non-fiction and fiction) for $200 over 12 months
  • Poetry: Receive all our new poetry titles for $180 over 12 months

All subscriptions go towards supporting independent publishing and writing that transforms the Australian literary landscape.

All subscribers will also receive a complimentary title from the backlist at the start of their subscription, which can be selected from the ‘Gift title’ drop-down menu. The current list of bonus gift options is detailed below:

HEAT Subscriptions

HEAT subscriptions are separate to Giramondo book subscriptions. You can sign up to subscribe to HEAT on the magazine’s website.

Duration and Payments

The full cost of a chosen subscription is payable upfront, with prices as listed. Subscribers can choose whether they want their plan to be auto-renewing (with payments automatically deducted at the start of each 12-month cycle), or to end after 12 months (with just one upfront payment made at the start). Auto-renewing subscriptions can be cancelled at any point up until the next payment cycle. Subscribers will receive email reminders either before a renewal payment is due, or before their subscription is due to expire.

Publication Schedule

‘All books’ subscribers will receive all new release book titles published by Giramondo during the time of their plan. ‘Prose’ subscribers will receive all the fiction and non-fiction titles published in the duration of their plan, while ‘Poetry’ subscribers will receive all of the poetry titles we publish in that time. The number of titles we publish, and publication dates, are subject to variation – however we expect to publish approximately twelve books, split between prose and poetry, within any twelve-month period. We post books to subscribers as soon as they are available, normally in the month prior to their official publication date. If you have any questions, please email info@giramondopublishing.com. 

Gift Subscriptions

Subscriptions can be purchased as gifts. You will be prompted to enter the recipient’s email address at the checkout. This creates an account which allows the recipient to receive updates about their subscription plan. The recipient will be sent a welcome email introducing them to their subscription plan and asking them to confirm their postal address.

Subscriptions can also be purchased as gifts for recipients who do not use email. Enter the recipient’s postal address at checkout and indicate in the ‘Order notes’ section that the subscription is a gift. Subscription updates and benefits will be sent to the email address used to place the order.
