Stephanie Radok is a writer and artist living on Kaurna country. She worked as an art critic and editor with Artlink, Artlink Indigenous and The Adelaide Review. Her books An Opening: Twelve Love Stories About Art – which waslonglisted for the inaugural Stella Prize – and Becoming a Bird: Untold Stories About Art were published by Wakefield Press. Her work is in the collections of the National Gallery of Victoria and the National Gallery of Australia.

Today I watered the front garden by hand. Maybe not the most efficient method but efficiency has its limits. I decided to pick three long stalks of feverfew daisies growing near the nectarine tree as they had started to lie down. They have an intense and complex scent half-mint half-chrysanthemum. It is an insect-repelling herb.
