Drag The River
A river can be any SHAPE or SIZE. You could be standing
Downstream looking upstream. You could be standing
Cross-stream. A river could be round or square. There could
Be anything in it. Your childhood or a song. To be
Narcissistic. To be SUBJECT-forming When that horse is gone
Horse or boat or horse-boat. I’m assuming There’s no
Platypus with magic claws or bridge which falls as my Or
Let’s say our ENEMIES arrive behind us. Choking in the
Dust of The bridge which aided in the establishment of this
Settlement. I Don’t think brown-eyed beings are more
Like rivers…blue…Green-eyed people like seas. My cat
Has blue eyes…she is like NOTHING on the planet
Which planet? That is my own question Trying to trick me
When you’ve lived near a space station you’ll Never
Want to live ANYWHERE else. No one knows how many
Disappeared into Grand Theft Auto before it was
Discontinued. I played That river a couple of times. When
He was Eleven he was Langston Hughes when I was eleven
I Had a different name. Hughes Went to Mexico…had A)
A good TIME…B) A bad TIME. There’s Your Central
American poetry reference. I hardly even went to Orbost
When I was eleven but my parents were together. That’s a
Privilege. There is a photo of me on a white horse. We are
Not Riding like the wind. Someone on Grindr says they hate
bigotry…weak types. Some things are more Attractive
With our glasses Off…some things Look more dangerous
From above. I slung my Hook over my Shoulder to see what
Was in the water. I saw my cat W Or Dub for short / long
It was her reflection looking at a Floating Bag which was
Actually medieval garb. Once I would’ve retrieved It…
Washed it worn it at the market. But To look nice it would
Need Hemming with something Red…perhaps
Embroidering. Are those Days gone? If So I Will have to buy
My Dub a bonnet…send Her out to Be A governess…
Only see her at Christmas when she’d Be A Different
PERSON probably. I imagine that I am a Blue-Eyed cat
Perched on my grandmother’s shoulder away From The
Ducks…we’re looking for treasures in the Receded
Floodwaters. That is what I would rename the House If I
Could afford it. Spend my RETIREMENT thinking Of carp
Fishing. Making geometric Portraits of the river Out of
Something. This box is a river. It is Called ‘River Box’
I would silently rename the river Box River…Get caught…
Be driven from the town losing Dub…Thousands of
Dollars worth of sculpture in the PROCESS. That didn’t…
Won’t Happen as I’ll never leave the Space station. I’m
Addicted to the radioactivity. It gives me Stronger
Perceptions than The romantic musings of CHILDHOOD
It gives me stranger pets than Dub. I wouldn’t Drink the river
Water here. Students do Sometimes. The most daring
Thing I do is go out at night in a purple Schiaparelli dress as
If it’s WARTIME…all bets are off…I once Told
Merriam-Webster that I heard the phrase ‘all Bets are off’ in
My Brain but they said I must have read It SOMEWHERE
Or saw it on The TV. It’s a nasty abusive Kind of
Phrase now I think about it. I Would prefer it If people didn’t
Use it AROUND me. When I was Eleven…in Full view
Of the square river I would dress up as A man. To think of it!
Abuse back then was like something I’d read A Bit like
One end (the dark grey coarse end) Of a Rubber. (As in an
Eraser) or the other (smooth Slippery white) End. I
Think I mean sex not abuse. The dress is a good luck Charm
That I pass Around my friends. But the town’s
Practically Empty at Night. The people who work at the space
Station do not Come out. They have their own bar
According to their Employment Ads. The ads seem very
Needy like they Really would love to have Us working
For Them I can find all the toads I want at The river
Toads Work at detoxifying the river which is to
Everyone’s BENEFIT. I have a little dragon but they don’t do
Anything Useful. I saw a fortune teller once who said
If I killed my dragon…boiled…ate it I would find LOVE…
HAPPINESS. What an awful person! I love my dragon
When it’s There with its yellow eyes flashing like sunshine
It knows ALL About being eleven…can cough up bits
Of food in all kinds of River shapes. Even in a small empty
Town with barely any memory Of the rapes of wartime
I wouldn’t go as far as the bridge dressed As a man or
Woman without a dragon on my shoulder. They’re so Cute
They disarm anyone…they take up virtually no SPACE
Back in our box after chats with people in the river
