Beverley Farmer new editions: Alone and The Seal Woman

Set in Melbourne in the late 1950s, and taking place over the course of two days and nights, Beverley Farmer’s debut novel Alone chronicles a young woman’s hopelessness and obsession provoked by the ending of a passionate relationship.

The Seal Woman is a portrait of a widow in mourning, first published in 1992. It explores the mind of a middle-aged woman mourning the recent death of her husband at sea, in a cottage lent to her by friends in the seaside village in Victoria where she had spent her honeymoon.
